Films and Videos by Beth B

San Francisco Art Institute

Former super-8mm New York punk artist Beth B continues to work in an astonishing array of media, investing each with a razor-sharp critical edge which dissects social attitudes and psycho-sexual dynamics. Beth’s recent work includes two feature-length films (most recently Visiting Desire with Lydia Lunch), mixed-media installations (Portraits & Playthings, a series of photographs dealing with female genitalia is touring the country), silk-screen posters, a bilingual newspaper, television programs and several short videos. For tonight’s program she will show Out of Sight, Out of Mind (1995), Under Lock and Key (1993), and the rarely seen super-8mm feature The Trap Door (1981, co-directed with Scott B, starring Jack Smith).
