Lewis Klahr has carved out an intimate cinematic territory combining cutout animation, bizarre whimsy and nostalgia from an imaginary past, and a critical yet appreciative eye for popular images of this century. Klahr will show Naomi Lang (1991), remarkably evoking the pathos of ‘lost’ family history revealed through an anonymous photo-album, and two new portrayals of city life, Window Portrait and Whirligigs in the Late Afternoon.
