Howard Guttenplan is the Director of the Millenium Film Workshop in New York City and Programmer of its Personal Cinema series. Moreover, he is one of the foremost practitioners of what has come to be called the “diary film” or self-referential film “journal.” He will be premiering his new film, Eye-Con, which represents a radical change in direction. It is a complex collage film in three parts that draws its imagery and editing rhythms from dream recall and memory. In addition, he will be showing three diary films from his long series of such work made during the 1970s. There will be an informal discussion on the state of current avant-garde film exhibition at the end of the program.
